Rumi Quote
When seeds are buried in the dark earth, their inward secrets become the flourishing garden.
- Rumi
The Qur'an is aimed for redirecting human beings toward Allah. It calls itself "guidance for humankind" (hudan li'l nas) in sura 2:185. This often repeated reference to humankind and not to Muslims, Arabs, Chinese, or the Quraishi tribe is to underscore the Qur'an's eternal and universal message. It is not directed to any one specific ethnic, religious, tribal, or racial group. Rather, God is speaking to the entire humankind. The Qur'an is not a treatise about God and his nature, instead it is a reminder for humankind of God's infinite mercy, God is Creator, sustainer of the universe and of human beings, and in particular the giver of guidance to his creation.

love this quote...a peaceful meditation. Plus I learned something, since I had to do a little research about Rumi.
My conception of god/creator is a bit different, but I am drawn to the concepts of universality and humankind (as opposed to select individuals), as you describe the philosophy here.

I dont have much of a concept of a creator, at least not a single person-like entity with human qualities. I dont think of a creator as having things like compassion, as compassion is rooted very much in culture, human experience.
I find it interesting to study. Faith is another subject.
Rumi was a mystic and famous Sufi poet. He is a great weaver of webs and uses many metaphors to describe connection and divine intoxication.
Personally, I do not se the divine as a person wih human characteristics.
