Highway 29, Burnet Texas

There are now somewhere between 125 and 150 bald eagle nests in Texas and they are thought to be increasing at about 15% per year. I drove up to Burnet Texas yesterday to look at a nest that some eagles have built right off the highway on ranch land over the Llano river.
I did not get any pictures of the eagles, but here is a shot of the nest.

In the top picture is that the head of a little eaglet peaking out over the top of the nest? Neat pictures.
I thought it was, Earl, when I shot it, Alas, it was a branch. The eagle was very deep in the nest. Now I know I need a telephoto lens!
I have a kinda telephoto lens for my 35 mm camera I bought for the bike ride. Now I use my sony digital camera, which has a tiny lens. If I ever win Lotto I'll get one of the new digital cameras that has a 35mm lens and can use all the 35mm attachments.
